The Fellowship in Orthopaedic Adult Reconstruction Surgery - Shoulder and Elbow at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak is a one-year program committed to offering an outstanding subspecialty experience in all facets of shoulder and elbow surgery. There are approximately 2000 shoulder and elbow surgeries are performed annually in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. It is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and is recognized by the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. The fellowship will include a broad experience with a high volume of shoulder arthroplasty and advanced arthroscopy.
The fellow will
- Be exposed to the nonoperative and operative treatment of shoulder and elbow disorders
- This includes primary and revision arthroscopic and open reconstructive surgery for traumatic, athletic, and degenerative conditions in patients of all ages
- Be required to complete one research project worthy of publication by the end of
the fellowship year as well as submit one review paper or book chapter for publication
- Gain outpatient experience in the Beaumont Orthopaedic Institute and the private offices
