Simulation
Our PEM fellows regularly train in simulation monthly during the entire training duration. High fidelity simulation equipment staffed with dedicated staff trained in simulation, to achieve mastery in rare and complicated pediatric emergency scenarios and procedures. Simulation is hands-down a favorite component of their training. There are also simulations run in-situ during shifts in the ED as well as joint procedure conferences three times a year with our EM residency.
Our fellows expand on their simulation experience by becoming teachers themselves, running our PEM simulation case teaching as third year fellows for our Pediatric residents in-situ on the Pediatric inpatient floor. This has been a wonderful experience for both teaching experience and quality/administrative experience in executing a simulation program during training.
