Simulation

The Post Simulation Debrief is a crucial component to residency education as it consists of interactive feedback and real-time evaluation allowing for in-depth group discussion. Feedback allows Residents participating to identify weaknesses with the goal to improve gaps in knowledge in a safe and open forum. The Post Simulation scenarios also consists of lecture PowerPoints providing further details regarding the case discussed. Overall, Simulation provides opportunities leading to cohesiveness within a group of physicians and experiences strengthening leadership skills.

Beaumont Residents will participate in both adult and pediatric Simulation opportunities throughout their Residency education. From strengthening procedural skills to solving the diagnoses with the appropriate disposition, the Beaumont Simulation program aims to foster a culture of learning and Resident involvement. Involvement from both the Beaumont Simulation leadership along other Beaumont Emergency Medicine faculty further illustrates the commitment to the educational value of such unique scenarios to ready our Resident Physicians to care for all patients alike. 

Annually, our resident Physicians along with the Attending and Fellow physicians compete in SimWars. All competitors engage in exciting and challenging case scenarios in front of their peers. From unique costumes to multifaceted case presentations, SimWars has provided a sense of wonderful comradery and memories for the entire Emergency Medicine residency and department. Just as exciting, the Simulation Directors provide leadership opportunities for Emergency Medicine residents to not only participate via teams but also in the creation and implementation of cases. In addition to SimWars, PGY 3s quarterly lead Simulation scenarios run by junior Resident Physicians.
