Vincent Grzywacz is a metro-Detroit native who graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences program prior to matriculating to the Central Michigan University College of Medicine. His diverse research interests have included studying deformable image registration for radiation therapy, population health equity, and cancer screening outcomes and modalities. He completed his Transitional Year at William Beaumont Hospital – Royal Oak, MI. Outside of medicine and research, his hobbies and interests include golf, American history, and playing Xbox.

Ben Willen, MD

Undergraduate: University of Michigan

Ben Willen grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his undergraduate studies in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Michigan and his medical degree at Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. He completed his internship at William Beaumont Hospital. He enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and skiing, especially going for adventures with his two dogs and his wife.

Andrew Zureick, MD

Andy Zureick grew up locally in Bloomfield Hills, MI. He moved to New Hampshire for his undergraduates studies at Dartmouth College, where he majored in chemistry. He returned to the Midwest for medical school at the University of Michigan, and spent a research year at Massachusetts General Hospital investigating dosimetric and anatomic correlates of neurocognitive outcomes following proton therapy in pediatric brain tumor patients, under the guidance of Dr. Torunn Yock. During medical school, he co-authored a book entitled What Every Science Student Should Know with the University of Chicago Press, and served as an author and editor for the iconic review book, First Aid for the USMLE Step 1 Exam, for three years. He completed his Transitional Year Internship at William Beaumont Hospital and is excited to have started his residency here as well. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to music, playing the piano, and spending time with his wife who is an ophthalmology resident.

Allison Hazy, MD

Allison Hazy was raised in Rockford, MI. She completed her undergraduate studies in Neuroscience and Spanish at Michigan State University, and received her MD from Central Michigan University College of Medicine. Radiation oncology is the perfect combination of her favorite aspects of medicine. She enjoys running, playing darts, and walking with her two dogs, Theodore and Franklin. She spends the rest of her spare time practicing for the LPGA Legends Tour. 

Kamran Salari, MD

Undergraduate: Columbia University

Kamran Salari was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Columbia University and received his bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics. After college, he served in AmeriCorps for two years as an HIV counselor in Dearborn, MI and Chicago. He then received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he was drawn to the field of radiation oncology. His research interests include using artificial intelligence to improve different aspects of radiation oncology. Outside of medicine, Kamran enjoys powerlifting, sports, Baltimore Ravens football, and horror movies. 

Joseph Lee, MD, PhD

Undergraduate: University of California, Berkeley

Joseph Lee grew up in Columbus, Ohio. He obtained his undergraduate degree in bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He then completed the combined MD/PhD program at the University of Toledo, where his research focused on novel neurotransmitter pathways in the autonomic control of salivation. During medical school, his experience with cancer patients and various oncologists left a lasting impression on him. In his free time, he enjoys exploring new cuisines and coffee shops, playing tennis, and thinking about getting a dog.

Jacob Oyeniyi, MBBS

Medical School: University of Ilorin

Jacob Oyeniyi was born and raised in the high altitudes of the Jos plateau in Nigeria. He earned his medical degree from the University of Ilorin. He then underwent over a year of clinical oncology training in Nigeria’s National Hospital, including a year-long research training with Faculties from the Princess Margaret Cancer Center, Toronto. He completed his internship at William Beaumont Hospital. His research interests include exploring the role of radiation therapy to reduce cancer mortality in metastatic disease. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music and learning about economics and history.

Spencer Liu, DO

Medical School: Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine
Undergraduate: San Francisco State University

Spencer Liu was born and raised in Taiwan and went to undergrad at San Francisco State University to study Cell and Molecular Biology and Chemistry. He spent a few years in the field of children education and scientific research after his undergraduate study before developing his interest in Theology and Philosophy, which led him to do a graduate study at FTTA in Anaheim, CA for his Theology and Philosophy training. His medical education at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in North Carolina further cultivates his passion to care for cancer patients. With his background in spiritual wellness and holistic medicine, he is interested in cancer survivorship focusing on lifestyle medicine and palliative care.  He is also interested in immunotherapy in combination with radiotherapy and their future application to treat metastatic cancers. He enjoys working on his cars during his time off and exploring new recipes to fulfill his home chef and home mechanic dreams.
