Corewell Health: The new name for Beaumont. Here to make health better.

Research

Involvement in scholarly activity is an essential part of pediatric education and an important step in the preparation for a lifetime of self-education. Residents are required to complete a research project during their residency training. This may consist of a clinical study using prospectively obtained clinical data or a retrospective study.

Projects are identified during the first year of training, and protocols are written with the help of a faculty mentor. The research is then conducted, completed, and presented at the department's Resident Research Forum. Written manuscripts suitable for submission for publication are submitted to the Director of Resident Research. Elective time for research may be arranged as an individualized curriculum rotation.  Many of our residents published their research in peer reviewed journals and present posters at regional and national meetings.

Residents also have the opportunity to participate in additional research projects and to write case reports.

Every resident presents an evidenced based journal club exercise.
