Radiology - Interventional Residency, Royal Oak

Interventional Radiology – Integrated Residency

The IR residency is an integrated clinically oriented program which incorporates diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, and a preliminary surgical internship. The purpose of the IR residency is to offer a broader more comprehensive learning experience in clinical diagnosis and care of patients who are commonly treated by interventional radiologist.

The IR Residency offers extensive training by highly qualified subspecialized radiologists during the residency. During the residency (PGY2-PGY4) years, the trainee attains a strong diagnostic radiology background with emphasis in procedures which will prepare you to plan image-guided interventions. In the (PGY5-PGY6) years, the trainee experiences 18 weeks of IR rotation in the IR4 year, followed by 32 weeks of IR rotations in the IR5 year.  In addition to the IR rotations, organized and comprehensive clinical rotations (Vascular surgery, surgical ICU, outpatient interventional radiology clinic) are incorporated with the interventional radiology rotations to solidify the trainee’s clinical experience.

The aim of the residency is to allow the trainee an opportunity to become proficient in the clinical practice of interventional radiology for you to succeed whether your future goal is private or an academic practice.
